British curriculum schools in JeddahA parent's guide to IGCSE and A Level schools.

Jeddah has several schools teaching the British curriculum through to IGCSE, and many through to A Level. Here are the ones we could confirm from the schools' own websites, what each offers, and the questions to ask before you choose.

Quick answer

Which schools teach IGCSE in Jeddah?

Schools in Jeddah that state they teach Cambridge or British-curriculum IGCSE include Jeddah Prep and Grammar School, the British International School of Jeddah, Thamer International Schools, Al Wadi International School, the Pakistan and Bangladesh international schools' English sections, Al Waha International School and Hera International School. Most also offer AS and A Level. Programmes change, so confirm details directly with each school.

Information from each school's own website, checked in November 2026. This is not a ranking, Astra Academy is not affiliated with any school listed, and we have left out schools whose curriculum we couldn't confirm. To check whether a school is a registered Cambridge centre, use Cambridge's Find a Cambridge school search.

What to ask when you visit

  • Which exam board do you use for IGCSE and A Level: Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel, or both?
  • Which IGCSE subjects can students take, and how many?
  • Do you enter students for Core or Extended papers, and who decides?
  • Do you offer A Level, the IB Diploma, or both? Which A Level subjects run each year?
  • How do Saudi students take Arabic and Islamic Studies, and how do graduates get their certificates equated?
  • Which accreditations and inspections does the school have, and can we see the latest report?

Accreditations explained

NameWhat it means
BSOBritish Schools Overseas: inspected against standards set by the UK Department for Education.
BSMEBritish Schools in the Middle East: a membership association of British-curriculum schools in the region.
COBISCouncil of British International Schools: membership, with accreditation for schools that pass its review.
CISCouncil of International Schools: international accreditation, not specific to the British curriculum.
Cambridge centreThe school is registered to run Cambridge exams for its students.

Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel?

Both boards offer IGCSE and A Level, and universities accept both. Their syllabuses, paper formats and subject codes differ, so revision materials and past papers must match your child's board. Astra Academy follows the Cambridge syllabuses; if your child's school uses Edexcel, tell us when you enquire and we'll tell you whether a batch fits.

Planning ahead

If your child may study at a Saudi university, check how the certificates will be equated before choosing IGCSE and A Level subjects: see IGCSE certificate equivalency in Saudi Arabia and which A Level subjects to choose.
